On July 22, my generous co-workers threw a baby shower for the care center is Addis Ababa. They first approached me to see if I would be receptive to a regular shower, but when I told them I really had everything I needed from my first two children, they had the great idea of doing a shower for the care center. We are encouraged to bring a few donations, so now I'm bringing an entire suitcase filled to the max with needed items (the suitcase will be donated as well!). There is Desitin, Tylenol, diapers, wipes, tons of cute clothes, games, puzzles, toys, books, and lots of Purell for the caregivers. We even received a cash donation to help with additional luggage costs to transport these items.We have our travel arrangements and have purchased our tickets. Our first flight leaves on Wednesday, Aug. 6 and arrives in Africa on Thursday, Aug. 7. We will return to Iowa on Friday, August 15. We will be flying with 3 other Holt agency adopting families for the longest part of the trip (Amsterdam to Addis and back on the return). We will also spend our days in Africa with these folks and hope to make life-long friends.
